Randy (randymbot) is a bot-based workflow that helps you choose a random winner among participants in a Telegram group or discussion thread. Since interfaces and button names can change, the most important part is building a clear entry rule and a transparent selection method.

Tip: The smoothest format is usually a group-based giveaway. For channel giveaways, using a linked discussion group for entries improves clarity and fairness.

Choose the giveaway environment

Will it run in a group or under a channel? For channels, collecting entries in the discussion/comments group is usually cleaner.

Start the bot and check the menu

Open the bot chat and press Start. Then check Help / Settings-style sections. Names can vary by version.

Add to group if needed (minimum permissions)

If winner selection needs group context, you may need to add the bot to the group. Only grant the permissions you truly need.

Security note: Legit bots do not ask for passwords. Avoid any bot/account that requests credentials. If you grant admin rights, keep them minimal.

Model B — Entry by reaction/emoji

Rule: “React with ✅ to enter.” Use one specific emoji to avoid confusion across clients.

Model C — Channel post + discussion group entries

Announce in the channel, collect entries in the linked discussion group. Often the cleanest for channels.

Recommended transparency line: “The winner will be selected randomly using a giveaway bot, and we’ll screen-record the draw.”

Pin the entry message

Pin the post where entries are collected. Centralizing entries reduces disputes and keeps things orderly.

Open the selection UI

Use the bot menu for “winner / random / choose” options, or try inline usage if your client supports it.

Announce winner + backup

Tag the winner, choose a backup winner, and set a clear DM deadline for prize delivery.

Note: If inline results don’t show, open the bot chat directly and run /help to confirm current options.
